This group of five unmarried women has broken the taboo of women are dependent on others. Karishma Rabha, Maloti Rabha, Mridula Rabha, Minoti Rabha, Bhasani Rabha are the name of those women who live their life independently without begging the help of others for any needs. At the early stage they thought that it would be difficult for them to live a life alone but when they were acquainted with the various income opportunities of livelihood they began to see the life through a new approach. In 2016 they got in touch with IIE, Guwahati through which they are able to train themselves as an expertise weavers. They are introduced with advance techniques and varieties of new designs.
Implementation of new techniques and improvement in skill has remove the negativity of the villagers towards the handloom sectors. There was a time when they never consider it as a primary source of earning and now they take it to a new path of sustainable development of the society. They are being trained in new product innovations and creation of variety of designs which help them to get a reasonable price for their products and increases the demand in the market.
NEHHDC now started its communication with the cluster weavers for better market linkage and soon their products will be showcase under Purbashree brand.
