Students from Downtown Public School visited the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) today, where they had the opportunity to explore the Textile Testing Lab, Handloom Unit, and the Eri Silk Worm Rearing House. During the visit, they learned about the intricate process of rearing eri cocoons, the importance of quality testing in the Textile Testing Lab, and the meticulous craftsmanship involved in running handloom units. The hands-on exposure provided valuable insights into the traditional techniques and modern practices that sustain Northeast India's rich heritage of handlooms and sericulture. It was an educational experience that deepened their understanding of indigenous art and culture.
