Celebration of National Handloom Day & Reviving of Lampas Weave.

7th Aug 2023 - National Handloom Day, the #NEHHDC campus filled with excitement as the weavers and entrepreneurs from the North Eastern Region  gathered to celebrate and honor the craftsmanship. The day featured a session on the   weaver's and entrepreneur's journey in the handloom sector and discussions addressing the challenges faced by the weaving community and explored ways to empower them fully.

A highlight of the day was the quiz competition held among the weavers of NEHHDC training center, engaging and showcasing their knowledge on handloom.

Additionally, the event invited school students to an exposure visit, allowing them to discover the captivating world of handloom, with a special focus on the intricate Lampas weaving technique. Notably, the 17th-century Vrindawani bastra was crafted using this technique, which the corporation is now determined to revive as it faces decline within the weaving community in the region
