This group of married women artisans are coming from a very meager background. The picture of their poverty ridden family was always in their mind. They constantly on a lookout for an opportunities to improvement in their livelihood. Majority of them got married in their early age and have their family consist of two to three members. As farming is the only way of their livelihood it’s become very challenging in contemporary period to cope up with their daily needs, because they need 8000 to 12000 per month to run their family. Hence these group of women has started their own alternative source of income. Weaving flows in their blood as they are belong to rural areas of Assam where Assamese women weaves dreams on their looms as once said by Mahatma Gandhi.  

At the initial stage they only engaged in making products for household uses or for the local level of market. Subsequently various training programmes has been initiated by IIE for them and they have successfully trained themselves as a skilled weavers with new designs and different techniques. These training programmes were become as a solution for them to enhance their alternative source of earning. Now a days they are able to earn 5000 per month from their business. Their first exposure to the market without any middle man was participate in different exhibitions and trade fairs.
