NEHHDC Mobilized 14 MSMEs from the Northeast Region to Showcase at Texworld Paris 2024 Under MSME's IC Scheme Paris, France – July, 2024 – In a landmark initiative to bolster the global presence of Northeast India's vibrant textile industry, the Northeast Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation (NEHHDC) has successfully mobilized 14 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the region to participate in Texworld Paris 2024. This endeavor is supported by the International Cooperation (IC) scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. Texworld Paris, a premier international textile and fashion event, provides an unparalleled platform for exhibitors to connect with a global audience, showcase innovative products, and forge significant business relationships. The participation of Northeast Indian MSMEs under the aegis of NEHHDC marks a significant step in bringing the region's unique textile traditions and contemporary innovations to the world stage. Empowering Artisans and Entrepreneurs The 14 MSMEs, representing diverse sectors of the Northeast textile industry, displayed an array of products including handloom fabrics, handcrafted garments, and eco-friendly textiles. These enterprises are not only carriers of age-old traditions but also pioneers of sustainable practices and modern designs that appeal to international markets. Government Support Through the IC Scheme The IC scheme of the MSME Ministry is designed to enhance the competitiveness and global reach of Indian MSMEs. By providing financial assistance for international exhibitions, trade fairs, technology upgrades, and skill development, the scheme empowers MSMEs to expand their horizons and access new markets. The participation of these 14 MSMEs in Texworld Paris is a testament to the scheme's effectiveness in promoting cross-border trade and collaborations. Project Digitalisation of NER Handloom sector. NEHHDC has unveiled its ongoing project, "Market Development by Way of Digitalization, Authentication, and Implementation of Traceability of the Handloom Sector in Northeastern States," funded by the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER), Govt.of India, at the TEXWORLD Apparel Sourcing Show 2024 in Paris, France. The event, running from July 1 to July 3, serves as a prominent platform for NEHHDC to highlight its innovative initiatives aimed at revolutionizing the handloom industry. This ambitious project, which provides IoT devices to 10,000 weavers across North East India, is set to transform the region's traditional handloom sector. Each IoT device links to a QR code tag attached to the handloom products. By scanning the QR code, end customers can access the geographical location of the product, the identity of the weaver, and videos showcasing the intricate process of creating the handloom item. The project not only aims to enhance the market presence of North Eastern handloom products but also seeks to ensure authenticity and traceability, providing customers with a transparent view of the product's origin and craftsmanship. By addressing the issue of machine loom products being misrepresented as handloom, this initiative helps preserve the integrity of genuine handloom products. NEHHDC's innovative approach is expected to significantly boost the visibility and appeal of the region's indigenous textiles and silks on a global scale. This initiative will also give mileage to the weavers of the North Eastern Region, enhancing their prospects for export and opening new international markets. NEHHDC's participation in TEXWORLD Paris 2024, a renowned international event, underscores its commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship. By introducing such sustainable and innovative offerings, NEHHDC is poised to elevate the North Eastern Region's handloom sector, promoting its rich cultural heritage while driving export growth.
