BHARATIYA KALA MAHOTSAV
The Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2024, organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) through its PSU, North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Telangana, was held from 28th September to 6th October 2024 at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Secunderabad, Telangana. The grand event was inaugurated by the Honourable President of India, transforming the President's residence into a vibrant cultural showcase.
The festival provided an invaluable platform for over 250 artisans from 8 states of Northeast, resulting in sales exceeding ₹2 crore. In addition to on-the-spot business, artisans received numerous bulk queries, further boosting opportunities for Northeast handicrafts in the south indian markets.
A major highlight of the event was the showcasing of traditional tribal huts from the region, which drew significant attention for their authenticity and craftsmanship. The GI Pavilion exhibited 31 Geographical Indication-tagged textiles and crafts from the Northeast, while live demonstrations of 10 indigenous products captivated audiences, offering insight into the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The success of Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav underscores the importance of such initiatives in promoting regional artisans and preserving India’s diverse cultural legacy.
