Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025
The North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC), under the Ministry of DoNER, actively participated in the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2025, aligning with the vision of Swachh Bharat Mission, Mission LiFE, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
This year’s campaign beautifully blended health, environment, culture, and community participation, celebrating cleanliness as a shared responsibility.
Key Highlights:
Pledge Ceremony: NEHHDC officials committed to fostering a cleaner and healthier India.
Health Camp & Tribute: Free medical check-ups and supplements were provided to 50+ Safai Mitras in Guwahati, along with a heartfelt tribute to the legendary artist Zubeen Garg.
Safety Gear Distribution: Masks and gloves were distributed to enhance sanitation workers’ safety.
Community Breakfast: A symbolic “One-Meal Celebration” with Safai Mitras to honor their contributions.
Shramdaan Drive: NEHHDC staff, including the MD, led a campus cleanliness initiative.
Waste to Wealth Competition: 46 artisans from Assam & Meghalaya upcycled fabric waste into innovative products.
Zero-Waste Seminars & Workshops: Students and artisans learned practical waste management and 3R practices.
Art Competition & Tree Plantation: Schoolchildren showcased their creativity and planted Neem saplings for a greener future.
Street Play & Mime Act: Local youth artists spread awareness on Swachhata through engaging cultural performances.
Impact:

20+ staff and 46 artisans engaged in sustainable practices.
21 students nurtured pro-planet mindsets through art and ecological activities.
Cultural pride and social unity were strengthened with tributes and community events.
Through these efforts, NEHHDC showcased its leadership in driving cleanliness, sustainability, and social well-being, reinforcing that small, collective actions can pave the way for a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
