On February 13, 2025, the officials from the Handloom & Textile Department, Government of Assam, along with a delegation of skilled weavers from the Sabitri Handloom Cluster in Tamulpur, located in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), visited the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC) premises. The visit aimed to foster collaboration between government agencies and artisans to promote and enhance the traditional handloom sector of Assam. The delegation engaged in discussions on capacity building, market expansion, skill development, and government support programs, while also exploring NEHHDC’s initiatives in facilitating better opportunities for local weavers. This visit marked a significant step toward empowering Assam’s handloom artisans by bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern market demands.
