The 36th Surajkund Mela is an annual event held in Surajkund, Haryana, India, inaugurated by Vice President of India, Hon'ble Jagdeep Dhankhar, along with Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal. The Mela allows the artisans across from the SAARC nations (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) along with countries like Egypt, Thailand, Lebanon, China, Uganda, Ghana, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and many more to showcases the traditional arts, crafts, and cuisine of different states of India.

This year's theme is dedicated to the North-Eastern states of India and visitors can expect to see a display of their unique cultures, traditions, and handicrafts.

The North-East section was inaugurated by MDoner Minister of State, Hon'ble Shri V. L. Verma, where he interacted with the artisans and wished to promote the North Eastern culture to the national and global platforms.

The North Eastern part of the Mela is organised by the Northeastern Handicrafts & Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC), in support of the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (MDoner). There are a total of 70 stalls allotted for the Northeast where artisans from these states can showcase their handloom and handicraft products along with regional cuisines.

In addition to the stalls and artisans, there is also a tree house that offers an impressive view of the Mela and many VVIPs and VIPs have taken the opportunity to climb up to it and enjoy the view. To help visitors navigate their way through the Northeast stalls, NEHHDC has also utilised GPS technologies provided by Geekworkx Technologies, a leading software company in North East India. They also provided technology to showcase the prominent Artisans and State Stalls, where visitors can scan QR codes and get to know about their story and culture and also buy their products online. NEHHDC also attempted to promote North-Eastern tourism through the use of digital scratch cards by providing exciting trips to Northeast India. Visitors get these digital scratch cards via WhatsApp when they buy products from North Eastern stalls.

Overall, the 36th Surajkund Mela is a great way to experience the rich cultural heritage of North-East India and provides an opportunity for visitors to witness cultural performances, taste local cuisine, and purchase traditional handicrafts and textiles.
