North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd under the administration of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region hosted the foundation stone ceremony for Eri Silk Spinning Plant at Integrated Textile Park (ITP) at Kharuajan, Musalpur, Baksa, Assam with the presence of Shri Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member, BTC as the esteemed chief guest, along with Shri Dhananjay Basumatary, Executive Member, Handloom & Textile (BTC), Shri Raktim Buragohain, Joint secretary, Handloom & Textile, Sericulture cum Managing Director (BRAWFED) Baksa, Shri Rakesh Brahma, Executive Member and Shri Sanjay Gupta, Cheif Executive Engineer (CPWD)
The Eri Silk Spinning Plant has been made possible through the funding from the North Eastern Council & Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
Brig.R K Singh (Retd.) Managing Director, NEHHDC addressed the gathering briefly spelling out the plan and objectives of the project.
With the establishment of this spinning plant, NEHHDC aims to provide direct livelihood to the local population of the Bodoland region.
The upcoming Eri Spinning Mill is a significant part of the expansion and modernization initiative intended to enhance production capacity and efficiency. New machinery and technology are being installed to streamline operations to ensure the highest quality standards. It also aims to actively engage with the local community in Baksa to provide employment opportunities for the local populace.
