The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) and Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP)

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) and Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) on its foundation day in Mumbai on 14th May 2023 aiming to empower the handloom handicraft industry through innovative packaging solutions in NER. Under the MoU, IIP will work closely with NEHHDC to understand the packaging requirements of different handicraft handloom products of NER and develop customized packaging solutions. This will not only help in preserving the quality and authenticity of these craft but also make them more attractive to consumers. The collaboration will also be working towards setting up packaging centers in NEHHDC and different regions across NER.

The MoU also aims to create awareness among the handicraft handloom industry about the importance of good packaging and storage practices and aims to conduct training programs and workshops for artisans and craftsmen to help them understand the nuances of packaging.

This is a significant step towards empowering the handicraft handloom industry in NER by providing innovative packaging solutions and creating awareness about good packaging practices, this partnership has the potential to not only boost the sales of handicraft and handloom products but also create employment opportunities for thousands of artisans and craftsmen across the region.
