MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

BETWEEN

North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation

AND

Indian Institute of Handloom Technology

The MoU has been signed by Brig. R K Singh (Retd), Managing Director on behaf of NEHHDC and Dr. P. Vasu, Director on behaf of IIHT on 18-11-2021 at  IIHT campus, Guwahati, Assam, India.

Highlights of the MoU

• NEHHDC and IIHT- Guwahati will share knowledge and available resources in the professional interest of weavers from the North Eastern Region.
• NEHHDC will engage IIHT- Guwahati as 'In-house Advisors' for Product Development & Design Intervention. Both the organizations will collaborate for Design Intervention and Innovative Product Development in the clusters of North East as identified by NEHHDC as well as in NEHHDC's Craft Promotion & Experience Centre at Guwahati
• Both the organizations will jointly work for development of Handloom sector of North East India and conduct Outreach Programmes on Design, Technology and Business development for weavers from the North Eastern Region.
• The Organizations will exchange information and data for relevant professional publications to the extent possible.
• NEHHDC will co-ordinate with different Clusters for Craft Exposure Visits to the students and faculties of IIHT- Guwahati in different clusters of North East India
• Both the organizations will jointly work for Research & Development, MSME development projects, design-development projects, training programmes, workshops, seminars, conferences and fashion shows etc.
• IIHT- Guwahati will help NEHHDC in designing, weaving, dyeing, printing and finishing.
