Ministry of DoNER & North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (NEHHDC) successfully held the Interaction programme between the Hon'ble Vice-President of India with Master Craftspersons, National Awardees of Handlooms & Handicrafts / G.I Tagged Products of Manipur on 3rd May 2023 at Manipur University. Artisans who are making various traditional textiles and craft to play a significant role in preserving the Manipur's traditional textile & craft heritage were part of this programme. Social Entrepreneurs like Bijayashanti Tongbram, who runs an unique venture of spinning yarn from the stalks of lotus in Bishnupur district of Manipur, Arambam Renu Devi, who has been working towards women empowerment from the last two decades through production and promotion of Manipuri handloom and handicraft & H, Shanti Devi, who is making flower out of waste cocoons were part of this interaction session. The Hon'ble Vice president of India also expressed admiration for the GI Textiles of Manipur i.e Moirangphee, Wangkhei-Phee & Shanphee- Lanphee at the GI installation.
