Inauguration of an innovation cell with improved technology

An innovation cell with improved technology devices has been inaugurated at Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, Khanapra, Guwahati on 25.02.2022. Ihe inauguration  of the Innovation Cell was done by Brig. R.K Singh, MD. NEHHDC, Mr. S Bondhyopadhyay, Zonal Director (EZ), WSC and Mr. Rajkumar, DGM, NHDC, Guwahati.

This Innovation Cell has been established based upon instruction received from the Office of Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi with an approach towards "technology upgradation" under " Special Infrastructure & IIHT related projects". The Cell is installed with electronic Jacquards on Steel/ SS Handlooms and electronic border turning devices for weaving special borders, for the first time at NE Region.
It is proposed to create awareness on designing, installation and weaving techniques using electronic jacquards to anyone who is interested in this new technology. This has been mentioned by Dr. P.VASU, Director of the Institute.
