A media delegation from Gujarat, consisting of eight prominent media representatives, recently visited the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) as part of a tour organized by the Press Information Bureau under the Central Sector Scheme – ‘Development Communication & Information Dissemination.’ The purpose of the visit was to showcase the development activities in Assam and highlight the region’s rich cultural heritage.
During their time at NEHHDC, the delegation was given an extensive tour of the Textile Testing Lab, where they were introduced to advanced quality testing methods for traditional fabrics. They also visited the Handloom Unit, where they observed the intricate craftsmanship behind the region's renowned textiles. The tour included a stop at the Centre of Excellence, which serves as a hub for innovation and development in the handloom and handicrafts sectors. Additionally, the delegation was taken to the site for the construction of the Asthalaxmi Haat, a major project aimed at providing a platform for local artisans to showcase and sell their crafts. This comprehensive visit allowed the media to gain a deeper understanding of NEHHDC’s vital role in preserving and promoting the cultural and artisanal heritage of the Northeast.
